East York East Toronto Family Resources is leading three forums for managers, team leaders, key decision makers and agency influencers to learn about topics that affect agencies on a day to day basis. Enhance your managerial toolkit through subject matter facilitators who will engage you in discussions and collaborations on three very exciting topics.

Mental Health and Substance Use: Impact on Housing Stability

Come learn and share your experiences in helping people experiencing mental health and substance use in maintaining their housing.  What are the housing issues people with mental health and substance use face in maintaining their housing?  How can housing professional better assist the people with mental health and substance use issues that they serve? How can housing professional advocate for people experiencing mental health and substance use issues to maintain their housing? You are invited to participate in this managers’ forum which is about enhancing support for your front line housing professional staff as they navigate stigmas, barriers and lack of resources for housing clients living with mental health and who use drugs.

As a manager and leader in your agency, learn and share your best practices in supporting your professional housing staff in finding and keeping housing for people experiencing mental health and substance use issues in Toronto. Together, with the help of CAMH facilitators, we will uncover what requirements housing agencies have – and barriers to these - for integrating mental health and substance use harm reduction practices into their services.   Next, we will work on some solutions to these barriers together and plan how to support staff who are navigating the barriers to maintain the housing for people experiencing mental health and substance use issues.

Enhancing Housing Stability for seniors

Come learn and share your experiences in helping seniors’ maintain their housing.  What are the housing issues seniors’ faces?  How can housing workers better assist the seniors’ they serve? How can housing staff best work with the senior’s family members?  What rights and responsibilities do seniors’ as tenants have?  You are invited to participate in this manager’s forum about enhancing support for front-line professional housing worker staff on the topic of housing stabilization for seniors.

As a manager and leader in your agency, learn and share your best practices in supporting your professional housing staff in locating and retaining housing for seniors in Toronto?  Together, we will seek an understanding of the housing landscape for seniors, as facilitated by the Centre for Equality Rights in Accommodation (CERA)’s interactive workshop and presentation. Next, we will sketch out concrete next steps through a group discussion and focused activity.

Growing Housing Services through Collaboration

Come learn and share your experiences in forging partnerships within the housing sector and beyond.  What are the issues faced in reaching out to external agencies?  How can agency leaders better connect with other agencies in the housing sector and cross-sector? How best can agency leaders work with other leaders in the community?  What rights and responsibilities do agencies have in working collaboratively?  You are invited to participate in a housing manager’s forum on utilizing the benefits and navigating the challenges of creating and maintaining sectoral and cross-sectoral partnerships.

As a manager and leader in your agency, learn and share your best practices in forging and leveraging inter-agency collaborations.  Lead by sector leader facilitators, together we will strategize about how to best identify, reach out, and form community collaborations with the sector and non-sector agencies to the benefit of all collaborating partners as well as towards enhancing our own housing help services.  See below for details.
